Creepers Cut Out McLaren Vale Shiraz

Don’t be put off by the name or the label, this 1600 bottle single vineyard McLaren Vale shiraz is beautifully refined and controlled. Linda Domas is a master of restraint, and this wine exemplifies her talent, preserving the definition of the biodynamic Creeper Vineyard of less than two-thirds of a hectare, planted in 2002 in the Onkaparinga Hills. A full vibrant purple hue, the wine is alive with dense satsuma plum, black cherry and blackberry fruit of breathtaking purity and depth, underlined by very finely textured, mineral tannins. Dark chocolate and liquorice lurk subtly in its folds. The finish lingers long and refined. This is a tricky wine to track down, so go direct (fiveviewsvineyard@gmail.com).
