Wolf Blass Black Label Cabernet Shiraz

A union of all the strength of Barossa Valley, Langhorne Creek and McLaren Vale, this is a deep, complex and intriguing black label of full, vibrant purple hue, surging with black olives, back fruits of all kinds and layers of liquorice. It’s built around a rigid yet fine-strung cage of cabernet tannins, powering through a very long and sustained finish. Oak is skilfully played, confident, supportive and clearly present, yet never stepping in front of the fruit. Black Label magnitude is paraded with a brightness and fruit definition that reflects one of the great vintages of the modern era. In time it may just go down among the finest of all. $104 at Dan Murphy’s (2010 vintage).
