Geoff Weaver Lenswood Adelaide Hills Sauvignon Blanc

These 27 year old vines show their maturity in a very seriously crafted wine that speaks more about texture and structure than it does about fruit, a feat rarely achieved by this variety outside the hallowed vineyards of Sancerre itself. Weaver puts the minerality of this wine down to the low pH of dry grown fruit from this high Lenswood vineyard. A captivatingly fine and mineral mouth filling structure gently supports introverted apple and lime fruit, lingering on a very long finish of outstanding acid drive. In all, this is one of Australia’s greatest young sauvignons. $23 at Dan Murphy’s.
