Jacob’s Creek Centenary Hill Barossa Valley Shiraz

I’ve been buying and cellaring Centenary Hill since the mid-‘90s and I can’t recall a more impressive vintage on release. This is a focused and coiled Barossa Valley shiraz of layers of black fruits, liquorice, dark chocolate and spice. Poise and definition meet impressively deep-set concentration, underscored by a focused line of fine-grained tannins, culminating in a finish of precise line and outstanding persistence. A well-crafted expression of a grand vintage for the Barossa, it has already declared its place among the great, long-lived Centenary Hills. $50 at WineStar or $39 at Aelia Duty Free if you’re travelling.
