Leo Buring Eden Valley Dry Riesling

Cool weather after the rain of 14 February was an ideal end to an otherwise challenging season and this is winemaker Peter Munro’s favourite wine of the vintage. Sourced from estate vineyards in High Eden, it’s an exotic, spice-laden and intense riesling, much more extroverted and immediately engaging than usual for this style. Guava and orange are the core here, but this cool, high site leaves its stamp in spicy kaffir lime crunch, lingering very long on the finish. A crowd-pleasing, early drinking vintage that still upholds the backbone of the Leo Buring style. $15 at No Frills, Wine List Australia, ANZ Wines, Nillumbik Cellars and Aussie Wines.
