Penfolds Bin 620 Coonawarra Cabernet Shiraz
Is it really worth the hype? You read about it here first (see Edition 11 for my tasting notes) and it hit the streets on Wednesday. Less than 1000 cases, at no less than $1000. Benchmarks of such history-defining calibre are crucial for Australian wine at every level, and alongside recent Bordeaux First Growth indent campaigns it looks like a positive bargain! I have tasted this wine four times over the past three years and it gets incrementally more profound every time. If you must have a bottle, your best chance is Penfolds cellar door (Ph 08 8301 5544).
