Frogmore Creek Fume Blanc Sauvignon Blanc
Talented Frogmore Creek winemaker, Frenchman Alain Rousseau, set out to craft a delicate sauvignon of low alcohol, mineral texture and crisp structure that fell somewhere between Sancerre and Pouilly Fume in style. Fermented entirely in oak, he hit his mark already in the second vintage with this ethereal, fragrant and textural style. A gorgeous perfume of almond blossom, vanilla pod and golden delicious apples wafts through the bouquet and palate, against a backdrop of grapefruit zest and a texture almost akin to bitter grapefruit pith. A wine of focus and energy, with a determined line and taut cool vintage acidity drawing it out fine and linear. $24 at Winecave.
