Campbells Limited Release Tempranillo
Tempranillo excited me more than any other table wine in Rutherglen last week. No surprise that the fortified capital of Australia is turning its hand to the traditional varieties of Spain and Portugal. Campbells has had tempranillo in the ground since the 1960s, making it a pioneer of this variety in Australia. At a refreshing 12.5% alcohol, with vibrant acidity and lovely freshness, I reckon I’d pin this to a cool climate region in a blind tasting. It’s refreshing and light, with a savoury palate of crunchy red and black berry fruits, tomato leaf and finely textured tannins. More, please. Buy direct.
