Giesen The Brothers Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc

Introducing my favourite Giesen sauvignon, much more sophisticated than it’s little brother (the one that’s always flaunting itself in the discount aisle), and ever so much more relaxed than its overworked big brother, August. A small component of hand picked sauvignon was wild yeast fermented in old barrels contributing an extra dimension of refinement and textural depth, charging it with impressive freshness at two years of age. It’s alive with frangipane aromatics and a zesty palate of grapefruit, custard apple, golden delicious apple and mixed spice. For all its flamboyant complexity, it finishes crunchy, zesty and very long. $20 at Camperdown Cellars and Emmanuel’s Wine Shop.
